The TCS-100 Temperature Controller is a temperature modulated heating system. The heater output is controlled by an analog circuit to reduce noise.

Unlike other heater controllers which switch the power on and off, causing spikes in the recording. The amount of power supplied to the heated bed depends on the temperature difference between the animal and the set temperature. As the temperature of the animal approaches the set temperature the power supplied to the heated bed reduces.

The top of the heated bed is a grounded aluminium plate, which also isolated any noise from the heating circuit. The system is specifically design to allow noise free recording of bio potentials from a rodent.

The graph shows that the noise recorded by the system is practically unchanged. 

The T-type thermocouple(TC) is typically used for setting the temperature. The heated bed includes a thermiostor which measures the temperature of the bed, and this thermistor can be used as an temperature set point in the absense of the thermocouple.

A temperature analog output can be used to record the temperature with a data acquisition system.
