Customizing iWorx Lab Documents

Lab files (word, pdf, etc.) can also be saved to your custom settings folder (see ~ Creating & Customizing Your Own Settings File and Settings Group) with the same name as your settings file and they will open automatically when the settings file is chosen.

How To Customize The iWorx Labs

You can create customized lab documents by modifying our existing labs.

1. Download the lab manual as an Open Office folder to your desktop:

  • iWorx Lab Manual – Open Office
    • This will create a zip folder of our lab documents
  • Unzip/Extract the files to a new folder on your desktop
    • Note: This will include all the images in the files once they have been unzipped.

2. Create a “Custom Labs” folder on your desktop.

3. In the downloaded iWorx Lab Manual, open the lab you would like to modify.

4. Make any changes you want to make, including adding any of your own images, links, etc.

5. Save the file to the “Custom Labs” folder on your desktop.

  • We suggest saving the file as both a Word doc and PDF. However, the file can be saved in any format you prefer.

NOTE
: As long as you save your customized document with the same name as the iWorx Settings file, the document will open at the same time as the settings.

My Settings

There is a My Settings folder in LabScribe – this is the best place to save all the customized lab PDFs that you have also saved to your “Custom Labs” folder on your desktop. Even if you do not change the original iWorx Settings, you will need to copy them into the My Settings folder so everything opens seamlessly.

1. Save your own customized labs and iWorx settings to the MySettings folder in LabScribe

  • C:Drive → Program Files → iWorx → LabScribe → MySettings

2. Also save the My Settings folder to a USB drive.

3. Copy your My Settings folder from the USB drive to each of the lab computers to the above location.

  • You can also email the folder to your students and they can put it in LabScribe on their own computers.
